WHO is PVDietetics?

MARK GAUVIN, MS, RD, LDN

Mark received his BS in Dietetics and MS in Nutrition from the University of Rhode Island.

Mark's graduate research investigated the use of caffeine supplementation in recreational strength trained athletes to increase performance (publication pending).

Currently, Mark is an adjunct professor at Bryant University in Smithfield, RI where he teaches nutrition and biology. He is also a clinical dietitian at Rhode Island Hospital, located in Providence, RI.

In 2017, Mark served as the state policy representative for the Rhode Island Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition, Mark has performed several presentations for workplace wellness committees at Bryant University and Lifespan.

Julie Houtchens, MS, RD, LDN

In her pursuit to have a complete understanding of both food and nutrition, Julie first obtained her Culinary Arts degree. Next came the bachelor's degree from Johnson and Wales University for Culinary Nutrition to combine her passion for Culinary Arts and Dietetics. She attended CUNY Lehman College in the Bronx for her MS in Nutrition.

Currently, Julie holds the position as Clinical Dietitian at Rhode Island hospital where she covers a wide array of conditions, utilizing medical nutrition therapy and nutrition education to aid our growing population of chronic diseases.

She employs her empathetic approach to counsel eating disorders, chronic disease related conditions and culinary skills to cultivate a healthful relationship with food.
